  THE CHOICE IS YOURS
.
There are two primary choices in life; to accept conditions as they exist, or accept the responsibility for changing them. Let us all come together and work to do what's right.

.
.

As we move forward with hope and anticipation, I am looking ahead to growing the association. This will only happen with the help and assistance of every member. Please do your part to encourage the return of memberships and teams. Let us put the problems of the past behind us, learn from them, forget them and move forward with a new eagerness, a new agenda and a clean slate.

The executive, together with the assistance of the board of directors also have a key role to play. The executive must point the way and lead by example. It is my hope that each member of the executive will carry out the duties of their respective portfolios to the best of their ability. You have an obligation to yourself and the MAA organization. Let us band together, put our best foot forward, grow the organization and make our community proud.

Ladies and gentlemen I am appealing for your support as we move forward. Let us be proud of each other, as we preserve a game that is part of our culture, as we preserve the comradery of meeting during the winter months for a beer or two. Let us move forward with hope and dignity. Let us also enjoy ourselves and have fun.

Respectfully,

Khemraj Ramnarine

 MESSAGE FOR THE NEW YEAR

The past should be left in the past or it can steal the future.

Live life for what tomorrow can bring

and not what yesterday has taken away. Everyday is a Gift.

Held on January 13th 2017
.
   DEEN'S RESTAURANT
.
A Synopsis
.
There were 14 persons in attendance which represented approx. 29% of the membership.
.
.
The President emphasized that there will be a zero tolerance policy regarding (a) conduct & behaviour, (b) financial integrity, (c) negative remarks (racist & otherwise) and (d) abusive language.
.
A disciplinary committee (names to be determined at a later date) will be struck to handle all matters as they arise. Every infraction will be dealt with individually and any decision handed down by the disciplinary committee is final.
.
A major decision as to whether or not the MAA should purchase trophies for those winners in 2015 and 2016 will be made on Day 1 (Feb. 26th) when all the players are present. The MAA executive committee needs the members' input and feedback to help make this decision.

.
The MAA is making a plea to all those who have carrying trophies in their possession to return them to the association. You may have received them in 2014 ... the last time these trophies were handed out. The time for carrying them is long over. Please return them to Glenn Manoosingh on the first day of the all fours season. We thank you for your full co-operation in this matter.

.
Our first event for the year is the Pair Knockout competition. Trophies will be awarded for the most bullseyes and most hang jacks categories. As well, a carrying trophy will be awarded to the winners. The rules on this tournament will be provided on game day. There is a fee of only $5.00 for this event.
.
All teams will pay their registration fees at the knockout game on 19th February. Names of players and sub players will be handed over to the MAA executive. There will be no fee increase this year. Even though there is an increase in CCOM rent this year, the executive voted for no changes to last year's fee amount. For the information of the members, last year's fees and registration totaled $420.00 per team, approximately $53.00 per team member. All monies collected are to be handed directly to the Treasurer.
.
.
The marshals as selected by the executive committee are Sais Madansingh, Joe Paul and Glenn Manoosingh. Once again, we ask that all players should familiarize themselves with the rules of the game to avoid possible disputes.
.
.
The MVP criteria will remain the same as last year's i.e. best four (4) of five (5) games.

The year 2017 promises to be another great year of fun and excitement. So far all the teams from last year are returning to do battle for another year. This has been confirmed at our last General meeting held January 13th, 2017. As usual we try to generate some interest by ranking the teams.

.
We are predicting the order of finish for 2017 as follows:-
.
ONE FAMILY :- This Week 1. Last Week 2. - There is no doubt about the talent on this team. They are building a dynasty and are out to prove that winning the championship last year was no fluke. You heard it first on this website ... the Professor who was missing in action for the last two years has suddenly surfaced and might be joining them. If he does, the race to the winners' row is all but over. Current odds: Even.
.
WISA :- This Week 2. Last Week 1. - The perennial  powerhouse team. They looked unstoppable last year as they tried to repeat as champs. Unfortunately One Family stopped them in their tracks as they defeated them in the last game of the season to win the league championship. With the addition of Sais (the Tom Brady of all fours), many are saying that it is WISA who has first place all locked up. Interesting, isn't? Current odds: 2 - 1.
.
SAINTS :- This Week 3. Last Week 3. - If they can get off to a flying start, this team could be the one other teams might be chasing. Winning their first two games against WISA and One Family will ensure this. There are no weak pairs on this team. All four tables are strong and extremely competitive. They are the only team to have won the championship twice in the last five years. Expect them to make it three in six years. Current odds: 5 - 2.
.
CHUTNEY SOCA :- This Week 4. Last Week 4. - Could this be their year? Que sera. They are currently in a rebuilding mode. They are possibly the dark horse in the race. A great start is needed. An upset over One Family in the first game will make them serious contenders. Captain Khemraj and his boys are super confident that they can pull it off this year. Just ask Vishnu and Vijay. Ken Mungal said he will provide all the free champagne if this should happen. Current odds: 4 - 1.
.
ICCA :- This Week 5 (tie). Last Week 5. - We received the news that the 'Professor' (remember him ?) is plying his skills with One Family this year. However, professor or no professor, the team feels confident they can still win it all or upset a lot of teams this year. Captain Frank is very pleased with the recruiting so far. Coach and player Ram (Sock It) is offering lessons to all newcomers on his team. He warns all opponents "not to mess with Jessie". In other words he is saying that he intends to beat anyone who comes in his way this year. Wow! Serious stuff here. Current odds: 9 - 2.
.
JUMP & WAVE :- This week 5 (tie). Last Week 6. - All this team needs is luck. The skill set is already there. They are the sleepers and the long shot in the race. With a few breaks here and there, any number can play in in a 6-horse race. So folks, don't count them out. Acquiring one or two good players will make them contenders this year. The MAA would like to thank team captain Peter Albert for the wonderful job he is doing. His efforts are to be commended. Be strong. Current odds: 9 - 2.
.
Teams will be evaluated on an ongoing basis as more information is gathered. Good luck to all!
