members and onlookers started the celebrations. A bullseye by Terry and Glenn on table two

broke the deadlock to give WISA the victory. WISA has now equalled the record of 8

championships held by the great Duniya team.

** MARCH 2018 **

I want to say welcome to the 2018 executive. I am looking forward to working closely
with you to make this year a truly successful one.
.
My first concern is the Western Tournament. I am really looking forward to hosting
Team Alberta and with your help and co-operation I know that it will be great.
.
Peter Albert, our P.R.O. is working with Inwood Golf Course for a June date to pin down
our MAA Golf Classic. Curry-Q is carded for the month of August.
.
As you are all aware, we are becoming more mature and want to spend more time with the
family. It is becoming increasingly difficult to grow and maintain our membership.
With this in mind let us give some thought as to how we should chart the course for
the future of our association. Let us think about this and come up
with ideas and suggestions.
.
In conclusion, I must say that I look forward to a great season of cards.
Let us have fun, socialize and move forward with pride.

a clean sweep. Congrats!!!

KEEPING YOU IN TOUCH AT ALL TIMES
.

.
Last year we saw a big improvement in the membership behaviour and the year was considered
to be almost perfect. This year, let's work towards making it incident free.
.
..
The MAA is making a plea to all those who have carrying trophies in their possession to return
them to the association. We ask that you return them on the first day of the all fours season.
We thank you for your full co-operation in this matter.
.
.
All teams are required to pay their registration fees on the first Sunday of the regular season
(18th February). Names of players and sub players will be handed over to the MAA executive.
.
There will be a reduction in fees this year. Last year's fees and registration totalled $420.00 per
team or $52.50 per player. The entire amount for this year is $340.00 or $42.50 per player..
.
The MVP criteria will remain the same as last year's i.e. best four (4) of five (5) games.
.
.
No new games will be started at or after 10 minutes to 6:00 p.m. All unfinished games end at
precisely 6:00 p.m. Players must stop all card activities.
.
If a match is tied, play will resume immediately from where you left off
and the next bullseye will decide the winner.
.
In fairness to everyone in overtime, players cannot take more than a minute to shuffle and cut
the deck of cards... nor is any player allowed to leave the table.
As well, other players looking on should not interfere in any way with the game.
A marshal will be present to ensure that these rules are followed.
.
.
.
Each table is responsible for monitoring their scores, regardless if there is a regular or new scorer.
To avoid possible disputes, it is important that players/tables go up to the scoreboard and verify
their scores from time to time to see if there are any discrepancies.
.
After the games are over there will be no changes made to the score sheets. The onus is on the
players/tables to monitor and make sure their scores are correct at all times.
.
Captains are also responsible for ensuring that all data is transposed legibly and accurately
from the master scoreboard to the summary score sheet.
..
.
.
DON'T: Smokers are reminded to dispose of their cigarette butts in the proper manner. Please do
not drop them in the area around the entrance side door.
.
DO: All team captain & players are responsible for setting up their tables and chairs and placing
them back at the end of the day.
.
DON'T: Please refrain from bringing your 'smokes' and personal booze for consumption in the
parking lot. The MAA was reported and monitored last year and most likely will be closely watched
again this year. This issue is a very serious one. We are making it abundantly clear that we will not
take responsibility for anyone who is caught in the act.
.
DO: All games start at 1:00 p.m. sharp. Plan on reaching the CCOM building at or before 12:45 p.m.
every Sunday.
.
Curry Coconut Ice Cream anyone?
.
Guess what? There is Pepper Ice Cream too.
What's next? Who knows?
.
Special thanks to my executive committee, the webmaster and special events groups and
to all those who graciously contributed in making 2017 a truly remarkable, inspirational,
exciting and exceptional year.
